We Are One Monday, April 4th

“Never forget that freedom is not something that is voluntarily given by the oppressor.  It is something that must be demanded by the oppressed… If we are going to get equality, if we are going to get adequate wages, we are going to have to struggle for it.” – Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

On April 4th 1968, Dr. King was assassinated while working with AFSCME organized sanitation workers in Memphis, Tennessee who were demanding better wages and working conditions. On Monday, April 4th, we will commemorate King’s sacrifice, and stand shoulder-to-shoulder with middle class workers and families across America with rallies and peaceful demonstrations in all 50 states.
