Born and raised in Volusia County, Scott served for 25 years as a City of Port Orange Police Officer before retiring in 2011. After retirement, he volunteered his time to coach youth football and other civic programs. As a citizen, Scott has concerns about unregulated growth, accountability and fiscal responsibility to Port Orange citizens. These issues and his desire to continue his service to the community is why he wants to represent all Port Orange citizens on the City Council.

In May of 2014, Scott attended the Florida AFL-CIO Labor Candidate School in Tallahassee. He was recommended for endorsement by the Volusia/Flagler AFL-CIO and received the Florida AFL-CIO endorsement at the 2014 COPE Convention.
